Our big topic this week was the five senses. We did a different, exciting activity for each sense:
- Hearing- maracas
- Smell- painted with kool-aid. Each color had a different smell!
- Sight- made glasses out of pipe cleaners and observed colors and shapes in the garden.
- Touch- felt 5 different textures and glued them on an outline of a hand.
- Taste- tasted Teddy Grahams and pretzels, and talked about the difference between salty and sweet.
We also had Environmental Education, where Mr. Schwartz taught about air pollution.
We learned about the difference between flat and solid shapes using food to sort. Pepperoni (circle), pita chip (triangle), and Cheese-its (square) were the flat shapes, while marshmallows (cylinder) cheese puff (sphere), and cheese blocks (cubes) were the 3D shapes. We also focused on each 3D shape individually.
In social studies, we focused on parts of a community and how to be part of a community.
Finally, our fun fun Friday!!! We had environmental education, yoga, and Rimiyah's grandma came and did an art project with the class. Finally, we took the last 15 of our day to go out to the field and enjoy the beautiful weather, and roll around in the grass :)
My heart is filled.
