In Language Arts, we had a magazine hunt station. Students had to hunt through various (kid-friendly) magazines to find each letter in the alphabet. This activity is GREAT because it helps with their letter identification, shows that different fonts make letters look different that what they are used to, AND improves their cutting skills. We will use this activity throughout the year to hunt for sight words, make sentences...anything, really!
We also learned about signs in the community, and what information they provide to us. I created a logo memory game for stations, while students created their own sign and wrote a sentence about what information their sign would give.
Science was all about plant needs! We learned different yoga moves to represent each need, and did the moves everyday. This activity was calming while connecting movements to words, which will help the students remember them. If you ask your child what a plant needs to live, don't be surprised if they ask for some space to show you!
Enjoy Fall Break!
