We practiced ending sounds at stations with Kennedy's dad! Thanks for coming in and running a station. We also wrote about ending sounds in our journals and painted a picture of something that ends in the /s/. We have also been hitting sight words hard! We have learned I, see, the, it, is, here, am, and like.
We have also been integrating out country, France, into our language arts sessions. They have been reading a book that focuses on "here is the..." sentences, all regarding France. We have learned about many French traditions- come check them out during International Night! (5:00pm-6:30pm)
Math focused on sorting, which led into graphing. We learned that you must first collect and sort your data before you can graph it. They sorted by many different attributes. During our graphing unit, we discussed many different types of graphs, but focused on pictographs and bar graphs. We made many graphs and the students really enjoyed reading the graphs to find information!
Past and present is always a fun unit in K! Seeing the students faces when I explain that telephones used to have CORDS AND NO SCREEN is amazing!! We played a fun "find your partner" game where they had to match the item from the present with an item from the past that has the same purpose (example, candle and lamp were a pair). Students loved this! We then made a graph.
We also discussed past and present Thanksgiving, and what we are thankful for today.
Looking forward to the holiday craze that is about to take over kindergarten!
All of my love,
Miss George
