In Language Arts, we learned about sandwiches! Why? To remind students to listen for the middle sound in a word. We talked about how the middle sound is what makes a word unique, just like how the middle of a sandwich is what makes it unique. They listened to lots of sandwich stories and built some CVC words sandwich style!
We also had Dr. Seuss week, and what a week it was! Lots of fun activities and exciting readers.
In math we met a new character- Linus the Minus! We learned that whenever you see a minus sign, it means something is being taken away (hence the thief mask...) Students solved subtraction problems using manipulatives and did a super job!
In science we covered everything related to magnets! We read That Magnetic Dog, which was a silly book about a dog that attracts food. This is how we came up with our science fair topic of "Can food be magnetic?!) We went through the scientific process and experimentation to find out the answer!
Looking forward to another fun filled week.
All my love,
Miss George
